| | Although there are currently no "Maps" of the trails at Timber Ridge, a lot of the areas and trails have names. A lot of them do not... Here are some of the Trail Names and descriptions. Email us if you can think of a trail name not included on this list or if you have suggestions for new trail names!
- Bumann Boulevard - Image 1
- This is the main road from The Lodge to the top of the hill at The Strip. It starts uphill by the Bumann's home near The Lodge.
- The Strip - Image 1, Image 2, Image 3, Image 4
- This is the main road at the top of the ridge above The Lodge. Most cabins and campgrounds are located along this road. It begins at the top of Ambush Alley and continues to the "back gate" at the gravel road. Entering and leaving Timber Ridge via "The Strip" to and from the back gate is recommended after a fresh rain. It is 5 mph at all times.
- Swimmin' Hole Road - Image 1
- This is the road from The Strip to The Swimmin' Hole. It is also a 5 mph road. In the middle of summer it becomes quite dusty and silt like. The high walls of this trail are quite unique and block the dust clearing breezes.
- Ambush Alley
- This trail begins at the end of The Strip and goes down to The Lodge past the new Vineyard building. It is considered the alternate route to Bumann Boulevard.
- Zeman's Grade - Image 1, Image 2, Image 3
- This is the large uphill trail between Bumann Blvd. and The Whoop-D-Doo's. It has very high walls and is about 250'-300' long. It is especially fun traveling with trucks and dune buggies. Watch out for uphill traffic when attempting to go down this large hill.
- Whoop-D-Doo's - Image 1, Image 2
- The Steps, The Ledges, The Terrace Hills; These are all names for this neat hill formation. It is a large hill divided into 4 separate step hills. It is a favorite for motorcycles because you can jump up AND down them. Dune buggies &Jeeps can go up and down these but larger trucks and SUV's will get stuck and damage these hills.
- Saw Mill Road
- This trail begins at The Strip and ends at The Saw Mill. There is a 4-way intersection near the bottom of the hill where you can take the back way to the Whoop-D-Doo's, go up Potts Delight or continue on to the Saw Mill.
- Ridge Runner Trail
- This road begins at the end of The Strip near Ambush Alley and continues along the tree lines, past "The Old Building", past "The Old Dump" and ending at the 440 Pond.
- Pott's Delight
- This trail begins on The Strip and goes down to meet with Saw Mill Road at the 4-way intersection by the Main Entrance Pond.
- James' Wipeout
- This trail begins on The Strip close to Ambush Alley and ends at the Mud Pit close to Cut-em-Off Pass. It is a twisting hill and a rather short trail.
- Cut-em-Off Pass
- This is a great trail. It begins on Swimmin' Hole Road and ends a The Mud Pit. It is a twisting and turning trail that weaves throughout the woods by The Swimmin' Hole. It is for motorcycles, ATV's, dune buggies and Jeeps only. Larger trucks and SUV's wont fit and are not allowed. Always be on the lookout for oncoming traffic on this trail!
- I-80
- This trail begins at the half way point on the road from the Swimmin' Hole to The Mud Pit. It sort of ends near Ridge Runner trail.
- I-29
- This trail was originally a motorcycle only trail but over the years has expanded to allow even dune buggies in some sections. It is a tight and twisting trail which begins at Hackberry Hollow and ends? The signs on this trail are "original markers" from many years ago and have deteriorated and some are missing now.
- I-440
- This trail used to begin behind The Lodge and went through the corn fields to the 440 Pond. It is currently non-existent.
- Bendy's Bends
- This is an advanced motorcycle/ATV/Dune Buggy trail and is a very unique trail and one of my favorites! It is quite challenging and has a few highly rutted out hills on it which will need some repair work soon or an alternate route implemented. Use caution if you are on an ATV. This trail begins at the halfway point on the road from The Swimmin' Hole to The Mud Pit. The trailhead is just to the right of the I-80 Trailhead. It ends on the I-80 trail just a short distance from the beginning. Bendy's Bends is a rather long trail and disorienting as well. It is unique that it ends very close to where it begins.
- Sleigh Ride Hill
- This is the large hill across from The Swimmin' Hole. It is a 250' hill and is usually in good shape for all vehicles. The top of this trail used to connect to the Upper Loop Trail which lead to The Old Hill Climb. Due to the Natural Gas Line route this section of the trail was closed off and now continues up and over the ridge to the bottom of Slippery Tit. Gully Ridge Climb terminates at the top of this trail.
- Horseshoe Bend
- This is the short horseshoe hill trail directly across from The Swimmin' Hole.
- Aggie's Alley
- This trail begins across from The Swimmin' Hole at the bottom of Horseshoe Bend and Sleigh Ride Hill and travels through the woods to the halfway point of the road from The Swimmin' Hole and The Mud Pit. It continues or turns into Hidden Valley or you can take the side trail to Frog's Trail and continue from there.
- Gully Ridge Climb
- This advanced hill area is across the Swimmin' Hole dam and to the left. It goes up the gulley and has several spurs or side trails and ends at the top of Sleigh Ride Hill. The main trail has large ruts in it and this area is a very difficult and steep section. Be careful when riding in here...
- Slippery Tit
- This fun trail begins at the base of Gully Ridge Climb and travels a level road around the tree line and past the end of Sleigh Ride Hill into the gully where this trail originated. It is a twisting steep hill and is passable by all vehicles. There are several alternate trails in the gully for bikes and ATV's. Watch for oncoming traffic. This trail ends at the top of the gully on Upper Loop Trail.
- Herbie's Pass
- This trail begins on Upper Loop Trail next to Hidden Valley and continues past Hackeberry Hollow and ends down by The Old Racetrack. Within the past few years, someone has put up signs along this trail that say Jiggle Stick but this trail has always been Herbie's Pass.
- Hackeberry Hollow - Image 1, Image 2
- This area is a favorite for the Jeep and bike crowd and has two trails called Crash Canyon 1 & 2. This area was named after all the Hackberry trees in the vicinity. It is located just off Herbie's Pass. There are several steep hills and "mini trails" in this gulch. It is an advanced riding area.
- Crash Canyon
- See Hackeberry Hollow above
- Hidden Valley Trail
- This trail begins off Upper Loop Trail near The Old Hill Climb and travels down the valley towards The Old Race Track and the end of Aggie's Alley. It is the easiest trail for a full sized vehicle to get to The Old Hill Climb.
- The Old Hill Climb - Image 1, Image 2, Image 3, Image 4, Image 5, Image 6
- This famous area was once host to some of the gnarlyiest hill climbing in the area. It used to be that a bike could not top this hill in it's day. Dirt would be moved from the upper area onto the main hill to create the obstacle. The remains of the Judges Stand is still standing and there now is a Flagpole and a Lookout Platform at the top of this hill. It is a great place to stop and relax while trail riding. The views from here are spectacular! Be sure to park your vehicle securely here as is is downhill in most directions. The main Hill Climb trail is now relatively easy and most any vehicle can accomplish this trail. A few of the side hills here are severely rutted and care must be taken while traveling these on a bike or ATV. Be sure to look carefully at the entire trail before attempting to go up or down it first. There is a trash can on the Lookout Platform, please use it!
- Nebraska Avenue
- This trail begins off Ridge Runner trail and is an easy wooded trail.
- Raccoon Alley
- This trail begins at The Mud Pit and ends at Ridge Runner trail. It is a trail through the woods and is relatively easy. bikes, ATV's and buggies only here though!
- Python Plunge
- This trail is a moderately advanced bike/ATV/buggie trail and weaves across several valleys and ridges. It begins just off Herbie's Pass near the top of Hackeberry Hollow and is a rather long trail. Watch out for logs and ruts in some areas.
- Pony Shoe
- This short trail begins at The Mud Pit across from Cut-em-Of and James Wipeout and goes up the small hill and around to Raccoon Alley.
- Butter Bee Lane
- This trail begins off Ridge Runner trail and goes back to the 440 Pond area. It is a thoroughfare type trail and some people even have cabins and campsites along this trail. It passes by the Old Dump area.
- Lovers Lane
- This trail begins off Butter Bee Lane and is a fun, twisting trail. It is a trail for all ages and most vehicles except large trucks.
- Golden Meadow Boulevard
- This is an older trail and begins off Butter Bee Lane by "The Rainmakers" campsite and ends at the top of the hill on Ridge Runner trail.
- Door-to-Door
- This trail begins at The Old Hill Climb and connects to Herbie's Pass. It has a few hill sections with ruts so be careful. Fun trail!
- Frog's Trail - Image 1
- This trail begins close to the bottom of Hidden Valley and travels up the valley through the woods. It is an intermediate trail.
- Kevin's Kiss
- This sign probably marks an area of a trail where an unfortunate or unplanned excursion occurred.
- Raptor Trail
- This sign is located back behind the base of Slippery Tit and shows no sign of any dedicated trails near by. I am not sure who or why this sign was placed here.
This is the majority of named trails at Timber Ridge. We do not have a map of the trails but the "Naming System" is helpful for navigation. Please do your part at Timber Ridge and help to make new signs, fix old signs and pick up litter you may find along the trails!
